RIVERDALE, NY — On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Manhattan University Director of Athletics Irma Garcia announced the interim tag has been removed from Steven Rosen, elevating him to the full-time position as head coach of the Jaspers baseball program.
"From day one, he's led with integrity, passion, and an unwavering commitment to our student-athletes." Said Garcia. "He cares deeply about his players, on and off the field and consistently goes above and beyond to elevate the Jasper Baseball program. We're excited for what the future holds under Coach Rosen's leadership."
In just one year, Rosen has achieved early success in rebuilding the Jaspers. Having had to replace all but one regular field player in 2025, Rosen has positioned the Jaspers for a bright future. The freshmen class, headlined by Jeremy Sosa, Guriyandel Salva, and Colin Basehore, provided early returns.
The Jaspers' best hitters by average in 2025 were Rosen recruits, with junior Ryan Lordier batting .329 and junior Aidan Taclas hitting .321 respectively in their first seasons at Manhattan. As well as Chris Fidanza, who made 15 relief appearances posting 41 strikeouts on the season, Andreaus Lewis, who collected 62 total bases and was one of three student-athletes to post a .400 on-base percentage, and Hunter Sute, who sported a .405 slugging percentage on the season.
"I'm incredibly honored and grateful to the entire senior staff and leadership at Manhattan University for their belief in me and our vision for the baseball program." Said Steven Rosen. "Having the interim tag removed is a responsibility I don't take lightly — and I'm excited to continue building something special with our student-athletes, alumni, and supporters. This is a program with heart, history, and so much potential."
The New Jersey native ended first season as interim head coach with a 20-27 record, including a 12-15 ledger in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. The first-year skipper had the Jaspers surging at the right time before rainy conditions canceled two of Manhattan's last three games at Mount St. Mary's (MD).
Prior to the Mount St. Mary's series, the Jaspers won six of its last seven games, with five of those victories coming in pivotal MAAC matchups and put them in control of their own destiny before the aforementioned rainouts.
Rosen was the pitching coach for the Green and White in 2023, where his pitching staff ranked third in ERA (5.36), second in opponent avg. against (.266), third in strikeouts (196) and second in home runs allowed (20) in 2023.
Before his inaugural season leading the Jaspers, he and his staff assembled the 56th-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2023, according to Perfect Game USA. The Jaspers' group of talented incoming players ranked first among all Division I Northeast programs and consisted of players from across 14 different states. Manhattan was the only MAAC school to have a nationally ranked recruiting class.
The 30-year-old Rosen brings extensive coaching experience to the job, having worked as an assistant at the University of Alabama, the University of Notre Dame, and Georgia State University. He also spent time working in the Minnesota Twins organization and with the Harwich Mariners of the prestigious Cape Cod Summer League.
Rosen's roots are in New Jersey, where he attended the College of New Jersey. He earned a bachelor's degree in English and lettered as a catcher for the Lions.
