Riverdale, NY — Brendan Krebs' dream story in the Premier Lacrosse League gives way to another huge moment on Monday night. The former Manhattan goalie is set to start in net for the Maryland Whipsnakes in their PLL Quarter Finals match-up with the Denver Outlaws streamed live at 6:30 pm ET.
After getting zero starts at powerhouse Chaminade High School (NY), Krebs has had to earn every opportunity that has come his way. At Manhattan, the preferred walk-on developed into one of the most decorated Jasper lacrosse players of all-time — earning a pair of All-MAAC First Team nods, MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, and leading his team to the 2022 MAAC Championship.
Krebs made the 2023 roster as the Whipsnakes' third goalie, and was asserted into the starting line-up for good after an injury to starting goalie Kyle Bernlohr. In his debut, Krebs recorded 11 saves in a nail-biting 17-16 win over the Chaos.
Krebs has kept his foot on the gas in 2024 too. Across 10 games, he ranked third in the PLL with 12.4 saves per game. In a 12-6 win over the Philadelphia Water Dogs on August 3rd, Krebs set a PLL record with 20 saves.

Now, heading into the quarterfinals on Monday night at Gillette Stadium. Krebs has the Whipsnakes in a position to become heroes if they can make a run to the PLL Cash App Championship and win it on September 15th. The Long Island native's second home is Maryland, where the Whipsnakes were assigned ahead of the 2024 season. That sense of permanence also aptly describes Kreb's career in the PLL, from little-known goalie to national phenom.
"What an amazing opportunity for our Jaspers Lacrosse program to have Brendan Krebs competing at the highest level of our sport on Labor Day," Manhattan head coach Doug Sage said. "With Brendan starting in goal, we will have one of our MAAC Champions (2022) playing at Gillette Stadium."
