Thursday Recap

GAINESVILLE, FL – Three members of the Manhattan College track & field team were in action on day two of the Florida Relays at the University of Florida's Percy Beard Track on Friday.  Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) took sixth in the men's college long jump, while Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) was 15th in the men's invitational hammer throw and Blerim Pocesta (Staten Island, NY) finished 20th in the men's college discus.

Clarke qualified for the nine-athlete final with a mark of 7.12 meters (23 feet, 4¼ inches) on his first attempt, then improved to 7.25 m (23'9½) in the fourth round.  He further leapt 7.29 m (23'11) on his next jump to capture sixth place overall.  Litzell, meanwhile, got out to a distance of 57.79 m (189'7) to place 15th in his first competition of the outdoor season.  Pocesta, who took 12th in the college hammer throw on Thursday, tossed the discus 45.27 m (148'6) on Friday, which was good enough for 20th place.

On Saturday, the remainder of the team will take part in the Roadrunner Invitational at Ramapo College.  Competition gets underway at 10 a.m.
