Schob Paves Way for Sixth Place Finish at Dowling

SHOREHAM, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's golf team finished sixth overall, with a team score of 625 (+57) in the two-day Dowling Memorial tournament on Long Island. The invitational was held at the par-71 Tallgrass Golf Club. The result marked the Jaspers' best finish of the spring.

Freshman Johnny Schob (Huntington, N.Y. / Salisbury School) posted scores of 72 (+1) and 81 (+10) earning a tied for seventh place finish, individually. His two-round total was the best of any Manhattan golfer.

Sophomore Jon Keyes (Bayport, N.Y. / Bayport-Blue Point) followed his first outing as a Jasper in last week's Wildcat Invitational with another strong showing. Keyes carded rounds of 78 (+7) and 77 (+6) to finish with a 155 (+13) as Manhattan's second-lowest scorer.

Freshman Ryan Lynch (Boynton Beach, Fla. / Park Vista) placed one stroke behind Keyes, concluding with a 36-hole total of 156 (+14).

Le Moyne finished the tournament in first place, with a team tally of 612 (+44). Chestnut Hill and Hamilton came in second and third, respectively.

 

The Jaspers will next compete on Tuesday, April 14, when they play in the Peacock Invitational. The event, hosted by Saint Peter's, will take place at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course, in Neshanic, N.J.
