ELVERSON, Pa. - The Manhattan men's golf team concluded Round 1 of the Finegan Invitational with a team score of 303 (+23). The tournament, hosted by La Salle, is being played at the par-70 Stonewall North golf course. The Jaspers total after Day 1 has them in a tie with Rider for seventh place.
Freshman Johnny Schob (Huntington, N.Y. / Salisbury School) carded a very impressive 70 (E) in the opening round. His score has him in a tie for third place, individually, after 18 holes.
Freshman Ryan Lynch (Boynton Beach, Fla. / Park Vista) posted a 75 (+5) on Day 1. Juniors Michael Giannico (Blue Point, N.Y. / Bayport-Blue Point) and James Edgeworth (Staten Island, N.Y. / Tottenville) rounded out Manhattan's scoring players, with rounds of 78 (+8) and 80 (+10) respectively.
Wagner ranks first after Round 1, with a team total of 290 (+10). Lafayette 292 (+12) and Monmouth 293 (+13) sit in second and third.
The invitational will resume with the second and final day of competition on Monday. Teams are scheduled for a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
