PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Manhattan golf team posted a score of 624 (+40) on Day 1 of the Rutgers University Fall Invitational. The Jaspers sit in 18th place heading into Saturday's third and final round at the Rutgers University Golf Course.
Freshman Jonny Slater led Manhattan, carding a 76 (+5) and 77 (+6) on Day 1 for a 153 (+11). Junior James Edgeworth also turned in two scores in the 70s, with a 79 (+8) in Round 1 followed by a 77 (+6) in Round 2.
Senior Mike Schutsky and junior Ross Ketner scored 157 (+15) and 158 (+16), respectively, one Day 1.
The host Rutgers Scarlet Knights concluded the first day of competition atop the leaderboard, posting a 571 (+3) through two rounds. Fairfield sits in second place, one stroke behind Rutgers. Wagner rounds out the top-3 with a team score of 577 (+9) entering the third round.
The final 18 holes are scheduled for Saturday morning. Freshman Charles Seward will lead the Jaspers out in the first group at 7:30 a.m.
