PRINCETON, N.J. – For the fifth time in as many meets this outdoor season, Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) of the Manhattan College track & field team won the hammer throw at the Larry Ellis Invitational from Princeton University's Weaver Stadium on Friday afternoon.  Litzell led the Jaspers to a 1-2-4 finish in the event.

Litzell's personal-best toss of 63 meters (206 feet, eight inches) was more than five-and-a-half meters further than his nearest competitor, teammate Blerim Pocesta (Staten Island, N.Y.) (57.27 m, 187'11).  He finished first among collegians and second overall in the event.  Former Manhattan star Jake Freeman, the 2010 U.S. National Champion, uncorked a throw of 67.06 m (220'0) to win the competition.  In addition, Killian Barry (Dublin, Ireland) placed fifth overall and fourth among collegiate athletes with a best effort of 55.39 m (181'9).

Competition at the meet actually got underway on Wednesday and Thursday with the decathlon.  Stefan Hoeller (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) was sitting in third place after five events, but no-heighted in the pole vault and had to settle for fourth place overall.

On Saturday, the Jaspers will visit another Ivy League institution—Yale—for the Mark Young Invitational.  Field events get underway at 11 a.m., with the schedule on the track set to begin at 12 p.m.
