BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Manhattan men's golf team turned in a score of 333 (+45) in the second and final round of the Lehigh Invitational on Sunday. The tournament, which was held at the Grace Course at the Saucon Valley Country Club, was played under very blustery conditions, causing scores to be much higher than they would under more favorable weather.
Junior Michael Giannico served as the Jaspers most consistent golfer over the 2-day tournament, shooting an 81 (+9) in Round 1, before concluding his weekend with an 80 (+8) in Sunday's final round. The junior finished as the Jaspers low man over the 36-hole event.
Freshman Johnny Schob also improved on his Day 1 score from Saturday in Sunday's round. Schob carded an 85 (+13) in Round 1, and concluded the final 18 holes of the invitational with an 82 (+10).
Junior James Edgeworth turned in a very impressive Round 1 total of 76 (+4) on Saturday, but had a tough round on Sunday, posting an 87 (+15). Edgeworth still managed to finish with the second lowest total of any Manhattan golfer on the weekend.
The Jaspers two-round team score of 652 (+76) placed them in 12th at the end of the 36-hole tournament.
Towson concluded the invitational in first place with a team total of 602 (+26). With a 621 (+45), Rutgers earned a second place finish. Lafayette rounded out the top-3 with a score of 628 (+52).
The tournament marked the final time the Jaspers will compete this fall. The full spring schedule will be released in the coming months.
