HUNTINGTON, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's golf team placed second with a team score of 304 (+24) at the Jasper Shootout on Monday afternoon. The squad hosted the single day event at the Huntington Country Club on Long Island. The result marked Manhattan's best finish of the fall to this point.

Eight Jaspers competed in the event, including the 5-man team and three individual golfers. The three Jaspers who competed as individuals in the tournament scored exceptionally well. The lone senior on the team, Mike Schutsky, was the low man for Manhattan, carding a 72 (+2). He finished second overall. His score however, did not count towards the team score. Freshmen Charles Seward and Jonny Slater finished the day with identical totals of 75 (+5).

As a member of the Manhattan team, freshman Johnny Schob posted the low individual score, with a round of 74 (+4). Fellow freshman Ryan Lynch finished just one stroke behind Schob, carding a 75 (+5). Juniors Michael Giannico and James Edgeworth also enjoyed success on Monday, finishing with scores of 77 (+7) and 78 (+8), respectively.

"We know we left some shots out there, and we have to improve for this coming weekend," Giannico said after the round.

Hofstra earned first place at the shootout with a team total of 293 (+13). Wagner's score of 315 (+35) gave the Seahawks a third place result.

Manhattan returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, when the team travels to Pennsylvania to compete in Day 1 of the Lehigh Invitational.
