Also on Saturday, Mikael Rojeras (Sala, Sweden) moved into the final of the 1000 meters, winning his preliminary heat in a time of 2:26.87. Felix Siljeback-Larsen (Vasteras, Sweden) established a new personal record of 1979 points on day one of the heptathlon. He enters the second day of competition in second place, 195 points off the lead.
As a team, the Jaspers are currently in fifth place with the 10 points McGovern earned in the pole vault.
For the women, who are competing concurrently at the Reggie Lewis Center in the ECAC Championships, Malin Olsson (Malmo, Sweden) won the silver medal in the long jump, leaping 5.91 m (19'4¾). Thanks to her eight points in the event, Manhattan sits tied for ninth in the team standings after day one.
Competition at both meets concludes on Sunday. Among those in action for Manhattan will be Rojeras in the 1000 meter final and Siljeback-Larsen in day two of the heptathlon.
