JOTANOVIC BROKE SCHOOL RECORD IN THE SHOT PUT AT BALDY CASTILLO INVITATIONAL

Tempe, AZ (March 18, 2005)- The track and field teams competed at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, AZ tonight at Sun Angel Stadium. Freshman Milan Jotanovic broke the school record in the Shot Put with his throw of 18.79m. The previous record was set by Ken Bantum in 1956. The throw qualified Jotanovic for the NCAA Regionals.

Also qualifying for the NCAA Regionals was Hammer Throwers juniors Michael Freeman, Zoran Loncar, Anders Constantin and sophomore Paul Peulich. Loncar placed second with a 62.13m throw. Freeman threw 60.73m and Peulich earned a mark of 60.68m. Constantin tossed the hammer 59.79m.

Junior Todd Raymond broke his personal best time in the 3000m SteepleChase with a time of 9:23.77 finishing in third place.

On the women's side, Jenna Daly placed fifth in the Pole Vault after her vault of 3.35m. Junior Marina Liander took seventh place in both the Shot Put and Hammer Throw. In the shot she threw of 12.53m and in the Hammer Throw she earned a 49.08m mark.

More Jaspers compete tomorrow at the second day of the Baldy Castillo Invitational at the Sun Angel Stadium.
