Riverdale, NY (May 8, 2004)- Tracy Sylvestre pitched a three hit shutout in game one, and Shannon Logan went 2-3 with two homers and three RBI in game 2 as Fairfield swept a MAAC double header today at Gaelic Park. The Stags won the first game 1-0, and took the nightcap, 4-2. Manhattan falls to 15-30, 8-6 in MAAC play.

In the first game, Fairfield (28-31, 12-4) scored the game's only run in the top of the third, as Laura Sandonato tripled home Tara Hansen.

Sylvestre (15-11) allowed just one runner to reach scoring position while striking out five to earn the complete game shutout. Jillian Medea struck out nine over seven innings for the Lady Jaspers.

In the second game, the Stags again scored the game's first run, as Logan led off the second inning with a solo blast to left. Manhattan responded in the bottom of the fifth, as Marina Ysaac connected on a one out triple to right, scoring Elizabeth Strein, who had singled, and Kerry Cook followed with a double to center, driving home Ysaac.

However, Logan again went deep for Fairfield, this time a two-run shot to left center, scoring Megan Kiefer, who was pinch running for Sandonato, who had led off the inning with a single. Fairfield added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a RBI double by Lindsay Walsh.

Cagney Ringnalda (5-5) allowed two runs over seven innings for the win. Medea (10-16) allowed four runs in the loss.

Manhattan gets back in action on Sunday, May 9, when the Lady Jaspers host local rival Iona in a MAAC double header scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in the final regular season games for both teams.
