Lawrenceville, NJ (April 10, 2004)- Marina Ysaac supplied a solo home run in the top of the fifth, and Jillian Medea scattered five hits for a complete game victory in the second game of the MAAC doubleheader today at Rider. The Lady Jaspers posted a 1-0 win the game two after falling 5-1 in the opener.
After four scoreless innings in game two, Ysaac, went 2-3, connected on the solo blast to left with one out to give Manhattan (3-20, 1-1 MAAC) all the offense it would need. Medea (2-10) struck out six and walked just one in recording the complete game shutout. Megan Jurkowski added a single and a stolen base.
In the first game, Rider (19-10, 3-1 MAAC) scored three runs in the second and single runs in the third and fifth before the Lady Jaspers plated a run in the sixth to make the final 5-1.
The Broncs took the 3-0 lead on a three-run home run by Maddy Bouldon, and added runs on an RBI double by Kristin Kanavan, and a solo home run by Jamie Farley.
Manhattan threatened in the top of the sixth. After a fly out and back-to-back singles by Erika Kostik and Kiera Fox, a wild pitch put runners on second and third with one out. A Jurkowski RBI sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 5-1, but the Lady Jaspers could draw no closer.
Elizabeth Peninno (0-4) went the distance for Manhattan.
