Old Brookville, NY (Ocotber 31, 2003)- The Manhattan College swimming team opened up its 2003-04 season in grand fashion, breaking six school records on the way to a 105-99 win over C.W. Post. Freshman Courtney Arduini was involved in five of the six record breaking performances.
The Lady Jaspers kicked off the meet with a school record time in the 200 medley relay. Arduini, Rachele Testa, Sarah Szotak, and Jessica Buckley knocked more than a second off the old record (2:05.48), set in 2002, finishing with a time of 2:04.15.
Arduini continued her fine collegiate debut, winning the 100 fly and 100 breast in school record times of 1:01.89 and 1:11.59, respectively. Her time in the 100 fly smashed a 10 year old school record (1993-1:07.21). She also set new Manhattan standards in the 50 fly (28.62) and 50 back (29.32).
Szotak, also a freshman, won the 50 free with a record time of 26.57, breaking the previous record of 26.78, set last season.
Other event winners for the Lady Jaspers was Heather Kennedy, who won the 1000 free in a time of 12:36.00.
