John Odierna enters his first season as Manhattan's head coach in 2023 after spending the last seven seasons on staff as the Jaspers' defensive coordinator, and three as the program's associate head coach.

During his time with the Jaspers, he has helped to establish one of the top defenses in the country.

This past season, Odierna mentored three All-MAAC selections on defense in Luke PacherChristina Clifford, and Blake Lothian. Pacher was once again a First Team All-MAAC selection while Clifford and Lothian picked up Second Team All-MAAC honors. Odierna helped the Jaspers claim the program's first MAAC Championship in 20 years with an 8-7 win over St. Bonaventure to secure an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

in 2021, he helped lead Manhattan to a share of of the 2021 MAAC Regular Season Championship as the Jaspers finished 10th nationally in yielding just 9.7 goals per game. Defender Luke Pacher earned All-MAAC First Team honors, while goalkeeper Brendan Krebs was tabbed as the MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

In 2019, Manhattan had the top man-down defense in the Division I ranks for the second-straight year, while surrendering just 10.14 goals per game (15th NCAA). He also helped to mentor Krebs, who earned All-MAAC First Team honors, and All-MAAC Second Team defender Dylan DeMuro.

Odierna arrived in Riverdale after spending the two seasons as an assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he was involved in all elements of the program.

With the Ducks, he was responsible for constructing scouting reports, implementing game plans and organizing the offseason workout programs. He also helped Stevens Tech to three wins over nationally ranked opponents and two appearances in the Empire 8 Tournament.

He also served as the Ducks’ offensive coordinator, with his squad averaging 12.4 goals per game, including 13.5 during conference play.

Odierna, who was the defensive coordinator in his first season at Stevens Tech, began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Colby College. In two years, he helped develop six All-New England players, including three USILA All-Americans, and the 2013 NESCAC Player of the Year while implementing and overseeing all the program’s defensive strategies.

A renowned clinician, Odierna has also organized and developed the Hoboken Shootout, the FLG Premier and FLG Legit 120 showcases.

A four-year standout at Gettysburg College, he earned USILA Honorable Mention and Scholar All-American honors as a senior in 2011, before graduating with a degree in business management.
